Blog Why Is It Important to Rest on The True Love?

April 12, 2021by BeatriceNdura0

The Famous Bee Gees (Andy Gibb) song, “Rest your love on me,” was dedicated to a lonely woman who was heartbroken in a previous relationship; and encouraged her to put all troubles on his shoulders and promised taking care of the worries for a while.

Why it is imperative to rest on genuine love:

In our pilgrimage, we encounter challenges, e.g., abuse, divorce, abandonment, rejection, betrayal, grief, financial lack, etc. Some empathetic people volunteer to walk beside us, helping in bearing our burdens and giving us respite for a while as they genuinely love on us.

Our Heavenly Father helps in our troubles throughout our earthly journey. He truly keeps his promises and does not get tired of bearing our burdens on his shoulders. We can confidently rest on His steadfast love, not for a while but forever.

However, abiding in God and adhering to his commands is a prerequisite to resting on his genuine love. When we do so, our bond with him is strengthened and faithfully meets our needs and desires. John 15:17

Dwelling in God is a sign of total surrender and immersion in his love. His love commissions us to be Ambassadors who bear other people’s burdens and letting them rest in the shade of our love. It is essential to understand that we cannot love others on our strength. Our ability is limited and requires monitoring through God’s lenses to prevent relational chaos.

Conclusion:

Obedience is our guide to loving freely and with joy. It cues us to surrender our problems on shoulders that will never break, to put our worries in pockets without holes, and rest on Jesus’ love, not for a while but forever.
